The #fame app is turning out to be a platform for talented youngsters who want to be recognised.
The #fame Tamil app seems to have taken Chennaiites by storm, as they have finally have a medium to promote themselves from their homes, without even spending penny!
The aim of the app is to identify hidden talents and provide them a platform to get noticed. Launched in November 15, 2015, it has managed to garner the interests of many including celebrities and youngsters. “#fame is similar to other social media apps out there, but there is a difference. Of course, other apps can be used to promote yourself, but a live interaction with your fan base is possible only with this,” says Shiyam, creative head for app’s Tamil edition.
The app allows you to beam yourself live and get connected with viewers and youngsters have managed to make use of this app to the maximum extent. “I really feel happy to be seen and heard, and this is the best way with which I can make myself and other talented people more visible,” says Vagu Mazan, a music composer and sound engineer. “My beaming time is 11.30 pm and there are about 300-400 viewers for my account at that time! They keep requesting me to sing their favourite songs and there are several good critics who help me rectify my mistakes. It is a beautiful experience, and I was able to build my fan base with it. I was also able to get in touch with fellow musicians working in the industry,” she says.
Every weekend, the team behind the app beams celebrities, and Jayam Ravi was the first actor to use this app to promote his film. Actress Sanchita Shetty was interviewed by #fame last month, and is also one of the regular users of this app. “It’s the magic of the Internet that helps us connect one-on-one with fans and well-wishers. I beam live whenever I find time and the topics that I usually speak about are fashion and spirituality,” she says. “It helps celebrities get closer to their fans,” Sanchita adds.
Isaac Thayil, freelance guitarist and a guitar instructor utilises the platform to teach guitar lessons. “I have my YouTube channel through which I upload my music sessions. But people could never interact with me or clarify doubts related to the classes and that’s where Fame has proved to be really helpful. They pose queries to me while I beam live and I teach them immediately, showing the right patterns and strings to be used in guitar,” he concludes.
