Aditya Om makes shocking film on taboo topic

Aditya Om's last Hindi film Maassab won more than 25 awards in film festivals and is now gearing up for theatrical and digital release.

Manual Scavenging though banned by law in India was a common malpractice in rural and certain parts of urban India and still is, in spite of contrary claims. Seldom has Bollywood or any Indian filmmaker has gone to the gutters of urban India or makeshift toilets of rural India to throw light on this rotten aspect of society.

Filmmaker Aditya Om has done just that. He has recently completed his feature film titled Excreta (Maila) ‘on the topic of manual scavenging. Shot in Bundelkhand and Chambal region of UP, Excreta (Maila) will start its film festival circuit early next year. Aditya Om says that In spite of the government’s sincere efforts the plight of sanitation workers is pitiable and this custom is still prevalent in certain pockets.

The filmmaker further reiterates that his film will be a shocker and eye opener to the world. Aditya Om’s last Hindi film Maassab won more than 25 awards in film festivals and is now gearing up for theatrical and digital release. All local artists have cast suitably in the film including Shiva Suryavanshi and Rafi Khan.
