Bengaluru: Jayadeva Institute to start cardiac rehabilitation centre

Bengaluru: Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research is setting up a cardiac rehabilitation centre in collaboration with the Needy Heart Foundation (NHF) and Bangalore Indiranagar Rotary Trust (BIRT) on the Hospital Premises.
The cost of the project is Rs 5 crore, of which the Needy Heart Foundation and BIRT are sponsoring Rs 2 crore and the rest is borne by the institute.
Jayadeva Institute director Dr C.N. Manjunath said the construction is in progress and it will be completed by March 2018. This centre will address post-cardiac treatment protocols, including exercise program, physical activity, counselling, importance of follow-up visits, wound care and hygiene, optimal control of diabetes, hypertension, proper medication compliance, dietary management and various precautionary measures.
All OPD follow-up investigations will also be done under one roof only. Patient educative videos / posters and other material highlighting the importance of prevention of heart diseases are part of this programme.
“The Rehabilitation Centre will have a dedicated team of doctors, dieticians, physiotherapists, yoga therapists, etc to address all these issues, which will sustain the results of various procedures they have undergone. This will boost the confidence level, improve quality of life, reduce mental stress and the patients can get back to work as early as possible,” said Dr Manjunath.
