TIRUPATI: The country may face the possibility of a cancer wave in the coming years unless people modify their lifestyle, cautioned doctors on the second day of the three-day awareness workshop on “Lifestyle Disorders and Diseases”, held in Tirupati on Sunday.

During the first session of the day, which began on the topic “Prevention and Management of Life Style Disorders through Ayurveda”, Dr Renu Dixit, Medical Superintendent, S.V. Ayurvedic Hospital, urged the attendees to adopt good living practices in order to protect themselves from cancerous diseases.

She explained elaborately how to overcome obesity, diabetes, hypertension and heart-related ailments with the available home remedies and the consumption of proper Ayurvedic products. She also stressed the importance of integrated medicine wherein a patient can take Ayurvedic products while undergoing allopathic treatment to prevent the further spread of a disease.

She also explained the importance of readily available medicinal plants such as nalleru, aloe vera, amla, arka, jilledu, etc. The doctor further informed that the TTD Ayurvedic Pharmacy Centre would soon bring out 314 products, approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, for healthy living.

Dr Subashini, an expert in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), clearly taught the importance and how to perform CPR when the need arises by setting a mock display on the stage. She said the awareness of CPR is a must for everyone as most of them are dying due to not receiving CPR in time.

Prof. Dr Rani Sada Siva Murthy, Vice-Chancellor of TTD-run SV Vedic University, Director SVETA S. Prasanthi and over 1,500 male employees including senior officers of TTD were also present.
