Rousing welcome for a legendry photographer Nick Ut

KOZHIKODE: Eminent photo journalist Nick Ut was given a rousing welcome by the lens men as well as photo enthusiasts of the city on Saturday. Arriving on Friday evening as state guest, Nick Ut started his site seeing expedition in the wee hours of Saturday. Accompanied by a platoon of photo journalists, Nick Ut snapped the beauty of the beach, the Tali Temple, Beypore, a Kalari and in between posed for countless selfies with fans off and on.
Mr Ut also attended the inaugural session of his photo exhibition held at Academy Art Gallery. It was a celebration time for the photographers who jostled for a click along with him. Vinod Krishnan, a faculty of CREST (Centre for Research and Education for Social Transforma-tion), an autonomous body here, who is an ardent fan of both Nick Ut as well as Vietnam, handed over few articles written by him on Nick Ut and the celebrated photograph that appeared in a magazine. Mr Ut also had a guest from Vietnam at the gallery where Vi Hoang, an intern at CREST, greeted him.
Ms Vi said it thrilled her to be seated along with him during the reception accorded to Ut by the artists’ community of the city. In the evening the citizenry honoured Ut in an elaborate reception held at Town Hall. Nick Ut would also visit Kadhakali maestro Padma Shri Guru Chemanchery and would snap his expressions on Sunday.
