April fooled all, from Bengaluru to Bangkok
Unexpectedly, even Chonburi FC, without realising the joke, got caught up in the mix and retweeted Johnson's tweet.
Bengaluru: As a young club, Bengaluru FC has always been 'in' with the young crowd and they had their fun on April Fool's day with a prank that caught their fans and even a foreign club off-guard!
When star defender John Johnson tweeted about a transfer to Thailand club Chonburi FC, complete with a picture of him holding their jersey, it caused a ripple with fans instantly taking to social media and tweeting back to the player and club.
Unexpectedly, even Chonburi FC, without realising the joke, got caught up in the mix and retweeted Johnson's tweet. That's when the Englishman decided to put things in perspective. 'Was good to have all of you in my pockets for a bit. Sorry @chonburi_fc. #NotGoingAnywhere #AllOffBlueOn #AprilFools' he tweeted again.
The star had earlier gone to Thailand for a holiday and picked up the shirt and hit upon the idea just for this day. The vagaries of social media would have left Chonburi red-faced.
