BRS Ex-MP Calls for Welfare Board for Private School Teachers
He said that of the 50 lakh students in the state, 51 per cent are in private schools.
Hyderabad: BRS former MP B. Vinod Kumar on Sunday said that a welfare board should be established to look after the welfare of teachers in private schools, by collecting an education cess if needed. He said he had introduced a private members Bill for purpose.
Addressing the media, Vinod Kumar took exception to the comments of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy that teachers in private schools were less qualified than those in government schools.
“It is wrong to look at teachers in the private sector and in government schools differently. The CM has the habit of playing to the gallery. The CM will send his grandchildren to private schools to be able to compete in the private sector. The state government should put pressure on the Centre for the enactment of a law for the welfare of private school teachers.”
He said that of the 50 lakh students in the state, 51 per cent are in private schools. “Private schools should have trained teachers as mandated in the Right to Education Act and many are qualified. There is a need to extend help to them after retirement,” he said.
