12 Sentenced to Life for 2008 Kadapa Murder

Anantapur:A local court in YSR Kadapa on Friday sentenced 12 persons to life imprisonment in connection with a 16-year-ago murder case in the district's Mydukur mandal.

The additional district judge court in Proddatur also imposed a fine of `4.70 lakh each on all 12 convicts.

On December 22, 2008, M.J. Subba Reddy, Mulapaka Pichi Reddy and some others attacked rival gang members Beechu Pulla Reddy, Bala Nagi Reddy, N. Venkataramana Reddy and Venkata Subba Reddy at Sarvepalli village.

Hunting sickles and rods were used in the attack. Beechu Pulla Reddy died while being treated at the hospital.

Mydukur Police had registered cases against 22 persons.

Mulapaka Pichi Reddy and M.J. Subba Reddy had planned the attack as their rivals had got the contracts for laying concrete cement roads and constructing Anganwadi buildings.

The remaining accused died during the course of the probe.
