4 arrested for blackmailing couple in car
Hyderabad: Uppal police arrested four people including Amarender alias Amar, brother of Kolthuri Mahesh, a BRS corporator in Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation, for blackmailing and threatening a couple, Uppal sub-inspector M. Madhsudhan said.
Amar along with his friends Maruti Goud, Udayakumar and Shiva Valli, recorded a video of a couple when they were in a car on the night of June 14 at Uppal Bagayatnagar, Madhusudhan said.
They threatened the couple that they would share the video on social media platforms. The victims approached Uppal police who initially did not act on the complaint and even threatened the couple to withdraw the case against the corporator’s brother, Madhusudhan said.
The Rachakonda police suspended three policemen for trying to settle the case in favour of the accused, police sources disclosed.
