Elderly Woman Run Over by RTC Bus in Hyderabad's Kothur
Hyderabad:A 60-year-old woman was run over by an RTC bus at Natco Junction within the Kothur police station limits at 5.45 am on Friday.
According to Kothur sub-inspector G. Srinivas, the deceased, Jahangir Bee, was crossing the road when the bus, allegedly being driver in a rash manner, hit her. She died on the spot. Police arrested the driver, Jagadish, 40.
Retired army jawan's wife dies under suspicious circumstances
Nizamabad:One Rathod Vijaya, 30, of Dichpally died under suspicious circumstances at her house on Friday. It was believed that she had died by suicide at her house in Sainagar Colony. Her husband Rathod Gabbar Singh, a retired Army jawan, shifted her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Dichpally police registered a case of suspicious death and began investigations. It is believed that Vijaya was the second wife of Singh.
Fire Erupts in Jeedimetla After Gas Pipeline Leak
Hyderabad:A fire broke out in Jeedimetla industrial area after an underground gas pipeline started leaking in Ram Reddynagar early on Friday, Jeedimetla police said. There were no casualties. Learning of the fire, personnel from the Bhagyanagar Gas Limited and the fire department reached the spot and doused the fire. The cause of the fire remained unknown.
Man Gets Life Sentence for Sexual Assault of Minor in Hyderabad
Hyderabad:The LB Nagar Fast Track Court on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old to life imprisonment for marrying and sexually assaulting a minor in the name of love within the Kandukur police limits.
The accused has been identified as Iragadindla Shivaji, 20, a labourer and a native of Wanaparthy district. He accused has been fined `20,000 and the victim has been awarded a compensation of `5 lakh. The case was registered under the IPC, the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Pocso Act.
Hyderabad: Woman Collapses in Police Custody
Hyderabad:A woman, identified as Sarala, collapsed in police custody after the Borabanda police arrested her for allegedly running 10 belt shops. As sool as she collapsed, police shifted her to a nearby hospital where doctors examined her.
Based on doctors reports, it was reported that the woman tried to evade arrest and deliberately collapsed on the ground. Borabanda inspector S. Veerasekhar said that after the medical examiniation, police produced her before the court which sent her to judicial remand.
SR Nagar Police Nab Laptop Thief, Two Buyers Arrested
Hyderabad:The SR Nagar police on Friday arrested an man for stealing laptops and two receivers who purchased stolen material. Police seized nine stolen laptops worth `2.13 lakh.
According to police, the SR Nagar detective police detained the accused Bandlamudi Chinna Avulaiah of Erragadda near Ameerpet when he was moving under suspicious circumstances. During the interrogation, it was found that the accused is an offender in committing thefts of laptops.
Upon questioning, the accused confessed that he sold the stolen property to Nandigama Venkata Krishna of Neredmet, and Mekala Venkateswarlu of Amberpet. Police also arrested them for purchasing stolen property.
Police said Avulaiah earlier worked as security guard at several places. He started stealing laptops from hostels in Bapunagar and surrounding areas.
Siblings Sentenced to Life for Killing Father
Hyderabad:The LB Nagar Fast Track Court on Friday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for murdering their father over his retirement money. The convicts, Medipalli Tarun, Sula Anjali and Sula Priyanka, were fined `500 each.
Their father was Krishna, a resident of Jillelaguda, Balapur mandal, Meerpet police said,
The trio demanded that their father Krishna share his retirement benefits with them. On his refusal, an argument broke out and Tarun attacked his father with an iron rod. The two sisters helped him in the murder.
Krishna's brother, upon learning of the murder, lodged a complaint with the Meerpet police. Upon the case being investigated and discussed in the court, the three were awarded a lifer
17-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide After Phone Harassment
Hyderabad:A 17-year-old girl died by suicide after being constantly harassed over the phone by a 19-year-old who was forcing her to enter into a relationship with him, Mailardevpally police said. The youth, identified as Vamshi was arrested by the police.
According to Mailardevpally station house officer P. Madhu, Vamshi had been harassing the minor, constantly calling her up and forcing her. Disturbed by this, the minor died by suicide on August 18.
The family, until then, did not bring it to the notice of the police. Days later, her phone rang and Vamshi’s number appeared as the caller. On enquiry from the family’s side, it was found that Vamshi was reportedly harassing her over the phone.
On August 27, the father of the victim lodged a complaint with the police and so, a case was registered under Section 107 of the BNS.
