Jangaon: 5 arrested for fake good luck prayers

Warangal:Police arrested five people on Saturday, including a transgender woman, for defrauding people by promising good luck through special prayers. The suspects were apprehended in Jangaon district with gold ornaments worth ₹21.6 lakh, silver ornaments valued at ₹16,000, and a car.

The accused are B. Nagadevi (36) from Yellandu mandal, P. Sandeep (25) and M. Ganesh (25) from Jangaon town, and G. Naveen (26) and B. Ganesh (27) from Khammam district. A year ago, Nagadevi married Sandeep, and together they began deceiving individuals by conducting fake rituals. They tricked a woman into giving them ₹55 lakh and plot documents.

Following the victim's complaint, deputy commissioner Raja Mahendra Naik directed ACP Parthasarathi to form a special team led by circle inspector P. Damodar Reddy. The investigation led to the arrests during a vehicle check at Nehru Parka in Jangaon town.
