Government Auditor, Accomplice Arrested for PSC Exam Cheating Racket in Bengal

Kolkata: The criminal investigation department (CID) of the West Bengal police arrested two persons including a central government auditor from Nadia on Thursday night.


The duo had allegedly ran a racket that helped candidates in cheating during a state public service commission (PSC) examination. The accused are Shankar Biswas, a resident of Kalyani and Papay Das of Dhubulia.


Mr Biswas is the senior auditor, posted at the office of the principal accountant general under the Indian Audit & Accountant department in CGO Complex, the CID said on Friday.


He is also one of the masterminds of the racket that sent answers through SMSes to the candidates who appeared at the recruitment examination of sub inspectors in the state food and supplies department, held by the PSC.


11 mobile phones and multiple bank passbooks were recovered from Mr Biswas who was caught along with Mr Das during simultaneous raids by the state detective agency.


The case was initiated at the Survey Park police station in Kolkata following a complaint. The CID later took over the probe on the order of the Calcutta High Court.
