Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour to be Completed in Six Months

Tirupati: The Juvvaladinne fishing harbour in Nellore district will be completed and dedicated to the fishermen within the next six months, said minister for roads and buildings B.C. Janardhan Reddy during a visit to the harbour site on Friday.

Accompanied by endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and other officials, the minister reviewed the progress of the harbour's construction works with the local authorities, including Kavali MLA Krishna Reddy and district collector O. Anand.

Janardhan Reddy has expressed his disappointment over the project’s delay. He said the project was scheduled for completion within three years after its foundation stone was set in 2019. He criticised the YSRC government’s handling of the project and blamed them for the project’s delay.

He said the project, initially launched during the N. Chandrababu Naidu government's term from 2014-2019, faced significant delays after the change in administration in 2019. He noted that the harbor works were halted, causing distress among local fishermen, who faced potential livelihood chances following the completion of the Krishnapatnam port.

With Naidu returning as Chief Minister in 2024, the efforts would be doubled to complete the harbour project and put to use for fishermen.

Ramanarayana Reddy stressed on completing the fishing harbour at the earliest and give top priority to fulfil the long-standing wishes of the fishing community.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to complete all projects initiated by Naidu in the district during his previous term. He highlighted the importance of the Juvvaladinne fishing harbour, Ramayapatnam port and Dagadarthi airport projects for the overall development of Nellore district.

Ramanarayana Reddy assured that the Telugu Desam government would bring an airport to the Nellore district within the next five years, stating that these projects would attract investments, create job opportunities for youth and contribute to the overall development of the region.

During the visit, the ministers also discussed the potential industrial proposals for the area and promised to make decisions on these matters soon. They also inspected a site of the proposed international airport at Dagadarthi, where foundation stone was set in January 2019. They enquired about the reasons for the delay in the airport's construction and discussed steps needed to commence work.
