Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Monday arrested Medchal-Malkajgiri District Industries Centre additional director K. Venkata Narsi Reddy when he accepted a bribe of Rs 45,000 from a Dalit entrepreneur.

Reddy allegedly demanded the bribe from Kethavath Ramesh, a resident of Yellammabanda in Kukatpally, inspect a tipper lorry for Rs 53 lakh under the Programme for Rapid Incubation of Dalit Entrepreneurs Incentive Scheme (TPRIDE) and to submit a report to higher officials for sanctioning incentive under the scheme.

Ramesh later lodged a complaint with the ACB. Bureau officials gave Ramesh chemically marked currency notes to pay as the bribe. After the money was paid, the bribe amount was recovered from Reddy’s diary at his instance and the contact portion of the diary tested positive for the chemicals. The ACB officials produced Reddy before the special court for ACB cases in Nampally for remand.
