Hyderabad: The food safety commissioner’s task force found rats roaming on the floor and inside the exhaust vents at Hotel New Fishland and the outlet was not able to show pest control records when asked, during checks at food outlets at Lakdikapul. The outlet was also found wanting in basic hygiene, with uncovered dustbins and semi-prepared food articles being stored in the refrigerator without proper covers and labels.

Synthetic food colours, not prescribed by FSSAI were being used, which were discarded immediately. The food handlers' medical fitness certificates were also not shown to the inspectors. Also, original food licence was not displayed at the premises.

At Hyderate The Bar, similar violations were observed. Besides, the outlet did not have a water analysis report. Expired food products like chicken, mayonnaise and pasta were found and discarded on the spot.

Hotel Ashoka had a FSSAI licence, pest control records, and medical fitness certificates of the food handlers and the dustbins were covered. However, expired food articles like chicken and liquid caramel colour were found as well and black beetle infestation was observed in green gram dal. Cockroach infestation was also observed near red meat storage area. Notices were issued to all the outlets as per the FSSAI Act.
