Guntur: Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has begun an 11-day Deeksha at the Sri Dasavatara Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Namburu, Guntur district. This vow was taken as an act of penance in response to the alleged adulteration of the sacred Tirupati Laddu offering, which Kalyan described as a violation of Hindu religious principles.
In a strong statement, Pawan Kalyan questioned why Hindu officials and members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board remained silent while the sacred offering was reportedly compromised. He expressed his disappointment with TTD employees, stating that their silence over this grave wrongdoing was unacceptable. He emphasized that his Deeksha was not politically motivated but a personal act of devotion, seeking forgiveness from Lord Venkateswara.
Kalyan demanded that those responsible for the adulteration be held accountable and called on the TTD board to take responsibility. He urged for a discussion on the issue within the state's cabinet and assembly and questioned whether Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy would remain silent if similar incidents occurred in a church or mosque.
Kalyan also raised concerns about broader issues within the TTD, including the sale of tickets under the Srivani Trust and the alleged desecration of temples during the current government's tenure. He urged for a comprehensive investigation into the quality of prasadam and called for a "white paper" on TTD's operations.
"If such an incident had happened in other religious institutions, there would be global outcry. Do Hindus not have sentiments? Why is there hesitation when it comes to defending Sanatana Dharma?" Kalyan questioned. He vowed to continue his Deeksha until justice is served, stating that he believed the public would stand with him in this cause.
The actor-turned-politician concluded by calling for a stop to what he described as ongoing mistakes under the current administration and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding religious integrity.
