How much sex do couples need to stay happy?
Couples can achieve perfect bliss when they are having sex just ONCE a week.
Ever wondered how often you need to make love to your partner to keep the flame of passion in the relationship burning? The results of a recent study might surprise you. Couples can achieve perfect bliss when they are having sex just ONCE a week, according to the Mirror.
The study, conducted by the University of Toronto-Mississauga in Canada, has debunked the popular notion that the more the sex, the merrier a couple would be. After analysing data from more than 2,400 married couples in the US for a period of over 14 years, researchers concluded that frequent sex offered no significant benefit to people in stable relationships.
Dr Amy Muise, the lead researcher of the study, explains that even though more frequent sex is associated with greater happiness, a frequency of more than once a week came with no added benefits.
The study found that once-weekly sex was typical frequency rate for steady couples irrespective of their ages and/or the duration of their relationships. These findings have been published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science.
