SC Delivers Split Verdict On Naidu's FIR Quash Petition in AP Skill Development Scam Case
Vijayawada: Supreme Court’s two-judge bench comprising Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M. Trivedi delivered a split verdict in Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s FIR quash petition in AP Skill Development Case on Tuesday.
Justice Bose maintained that the Prevention of Corruption Act Section 17-A was applicable so that prior permission should be obtained from the Governor before initiating action on the accused since he was a public servant.
Justice Trivedi mentioned that Section 17-A of PC Act is not applicable since the crime took place earlier than bringing out the Act.
With both the judges delivering the split verdict, the matter has been referred to Chief Justice Chandrachud and it has to be known whether the matter to be taken up by a three-judge bench headed by CJI or to be referred to a constitutional bench.
