Vijayawada:Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has stated that the state government procured a record 27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 4.15 lakh farmers during the ongoing 2024-25 Kharif season.

In a statement, the manohar highlighted the paddy procurement statistics for the ongoing Kharif season, comparing them with those of the previous YSRC government.

“The alliance government, until January 5, 2025, procured 27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 4,15,066 farmers and paid `6,083.69 crore by depositing the money directly into the bank accounts of the farmers within a record 24-hour timeframe,” he said.

In comparison, the previous YSRC government had procured paddy from only 2,12,431 farmers during the 2023-24 Kharif season, which was 95.4 per cent fewer than the 4,15,066 farmers benefitting in the current season. The previous government not only made minimal paddy procurement from farmers but also delayed payments, which were later cleared by the present government, he claimed.

He said the state government has brought a real Sankranti festival to farmers with its pro-farmer governance in the state.
