5.50 Lakh Food Packets and Supplies Sent to Rain-Affected Areas

Kakinada:In response to the recent floods, over 8.50 lakh food packets and essential supplies have been dispatched from Godavari districts to NTR district. The aid includes water packets, matchboxes, milk, curd, biryani, yellow rice, candles, and other essentials.

The district collectors of Eluru K. Vetri Selvi, West Godavari Chadalawada Nagarani and East Godavari P. Prashanthi coordinated the distribution efforts. They mobilised resources from various sources, including philanthropists, rice millers, hospitals, schools, colleges, and several government departments such as the Civil Supplies Corporation, DRDA, and Animal Husbandry.

West Godavari district Collector Chadalawada Nagarani reported that 50,000 food packets, 50,000 water packets and bottles each, and 1,14,500 biscuit packets were delivered to the affected areas via 14 vehicles. East Godavari district collector P. Prashanthi mentioned that their office prepared 6,000 food packets, 12,000 water packets, while the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation contributed 25,000 biscuit packets, 20,000 yellow rice packets, and 37,000 water packets.

Additionally, the animal husbandry department provided 20,000 milk packets (200 ml each), DRDA supplied 24,000 yellow rice packets and 2 lakhs water packets and various organisations including ISKCON, schools, hospitals, and contractors contributed nearly 1 lakh packets.

Eluru District Collector K. Vetri Selvi added that 1 lakh biscuit packets, 50,000 candles, matchboxes, and 70,000 food packets were also sent to NTR District to aid the flood victims.
