Vijayawada: Robbers made an abortive bid to loot gold ornaments and cash from passengers aboard Narasapur Express en route to Lingampalli near Nadikudi railway station in early hours of Sunday.
The thieves first pulled the chain in B-5 coach at 1.33 am at KM 151/6 between Nadikudi and Pondugula railway stations. The train, however, resumed journey after the train manager rectified the issue.
However, within minutes the miscreant pulled the chain again in S-13 coach. After the train manager resolved the issue and restarted the journey, the robbers pulled the chain once more, this time in S-10 coach.
The robbers, hidden in bushes, pelted stones at RPF personnel when they tried to force open the closed windows of S-10 coach.
Following the incident, the train was halted for about 30 minutes from 1:33 am to 2:03 am, between Nadikudi and Pondugula railway stations.
