Anantapur Sends Vegetables to Flood-hit Vijayawada

ANANTAPUR: Consignments of tomatoes and vegetables are being sent from Anantapur to Vijayawada for distribution to flood-hit victims.

With the yield of tomatoes being good in Anantapur district, TD MLAs and leaders are purchasing the fruit, apart from vegetables, from local markets and sending them to Vijayawada on a large scale.

Kalyandurg MLA A. Surendra Babu said they are procuring vegetables, apart from other groceries, from nearby Karnataka and sending them in vehicles to Vijayawada, as part of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s initiative to help victims of floods in the city.

Surendra Babu pointed out that two truck-loads of vegetables had been sent to Vijayawada from Kalyandurg on Wednesday.

Anantapur Urban MLA Venkateswara Prasad sent 30 tonnes of tomato and other vegetables for distribution to flood victims.

Madakasira MLA M.S. Raju distributed clothes and other essentials to flood victims in a division of Vijayawada. He has been given the charge of looking after flood relief measures in this division.

TD MLAs and leaders are also procuring other relief materials, including clothes and essentials, and transporting them to Vijayawada for distribution to the flood-hit victims.
