Andhra Pradesh: All Flood-Hit Families in ASR District Return Home
Visakhapatnam: All the flood-affected families that had been evacuated to relief centres have returned to their respective homes as on Saturday evening, said ASR district collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar.
He underlined that power supply has been restored to all the four mandals in Chintoor division of the district, except for one habitation.
Special scale assistance of ₹3,000 and 25 kg free rice has been given to all families, except a few.
Relief is yet to be distributed only to those families who are in relief centres close to the river.
Out of 29,203 affected families, special assistance amount has been distributed to 26,568 families. Total amount disbursed is ₹7.97 crore.
The collector pointed out that 191 villages had been affected in four mandals of Chittoor division, including Chintoor, V.R. Puram, Kunavaram and Yetapaka mandals. The flood level in Godavari is 34.10 feet as at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Dinesh Kumar said sanitation is in full swing in all the four mandals. 96 sanitation staff are cleaning up the waste. They have so far sprinkled 23,918 kg of bleaching powder to check unhygienic conditions.
He pointed out that so far 1,244 medical camps have been opened, where 25,988 people have been checked up. Checks revealed 109 persons with skin diseases, 92 had developed fever and one tested positive for malaria.
Around 2.5 lakh chlorine tablets have been distributed in various villages for purifying drinking water.
