Hyderabad: Film actor Allu Arjun and his friend, former MLA Silpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy, received relief in the Andhra Pradesh High Court as it quashed a police case against them. A single-judge bench, headed by Justice V.R.K. Krupa Sagar, held a hearing on Wednesday on a petition filed by the actor and his friend to quash the case registered at Nandyal.
The court observed that Allu Arjun’s visit to Kishore Reddy's residence was a personal matter between friends. Addressing allegations that a large number of people gathered at Reddy's residence during the visit, the court noted that neither the actor nor his friend had invited the crowd, and it was the responsibility of the police to disperse those who assembled.
The court also pointed out that the tahsildar, instead of informing the higher authority who promulgated Section 144 of the CrPC, acted wrongfully by resorting to criminal charges. It further observed that the actor's visit caused no harm or threat to anyone’s life and concluded that it is reasonable for a friend to visit another friend’s home.
