Kurnool: Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy promised on Saturday that the state government was repairing roads at a cost of Rs 861 crore and has cleared dues amounting to Rs 1,000 crore from the previous regime. While addressing a crowd in Orvakal, he assured that the roads would soon be fully developed with additional funds to ensure pothole-free for the people.

“Roads in Andhra Pradesh were a model for other states during the TD regime, but under the YSRC government, roads and infrastructure have been neglected for five years. The poor condition of roads has even drawn ridicule from neighbouring states,” he said.

The minister also highlighted the establishment of a drone hub in Orvakal, initiated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to provide more employment opportunities. The Chief Minister had allocated 300 acres for the project, which will be developed with Rs 3,200 crore from the Centre, as part of the Orvakal Industrial Hub.

He also elaborated on the welfare initiatives under the ‘Super Six’ assurances, including increasing pensions to Rs 4,000, launching the Deepam 2 scheme, and plans to provide free RTC bus travel for women. He again criticised the previous government for failing to construct CC roads and promised Rs 15–20 crore for CC road development in every Assembly constituency.

Janardhan Reddy added that the government would provide tap connections to every household to alleviate drinking water issues. Minister for law and justice N.M.D. Farooq and Nandyal district TD president Mallela Rajasekhar Goud were present at the event.
