Andhra Pradesh: Naidu government renames welfare schemes

Vijayawada: AP Social Welfare Department on Tuesday issued orders renaming welfare schemes in existence in the state.

According to GO No. 4 dated June 18, 2024 issued by secretary to government K. Harshavardhan, the Jagananna Vidya Deevena is being renamed as Post Matric Scholarship RTF. Jagananna Vasathi Deevana will be called Post Matric Scholarship MTF.
Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena (for SCs) is being retitled Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi (AOVN), YSR Kalyana Masthu will be known as Chandranna Pelli Kanuka, YSR Vidyonnathi will be NTR Vidyonnathi and Jagananna Civil Services Protsahakam is being renamed Incentives for Civil Services Examination.
After YSRC had won the elections in 2019, Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced many welfare schemes and named them after himself or his father YSR.
After a landslide victory in the recent 2024 elections, the TD-led NDA bloc has started renaming the welfare schemes in the name of TD founder NTR or Chandranna.
In the first lot, names of welfare schemes pertaining to education of students have been renamed. In the days to come, many other schemes will be renamed.
