Kurnool: Class 7 students were injured when the ceiling of Santiniketan Sankalp School in Nandyal collapsed on Monday.
The school, located in Sanjeeva Nagar, witnessed the ceiling collapse, injuring nine students and an employee. Three students required surgical sutures, while others sustained minor injuries.
The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital by school staff for treatment. Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy contacted the DEO and other senior officials, ordering an investigation into the incident.
Nandyal DEO K. Sudhakar Reddy, who visited the site, revealed that the school was conducting classes without proper authorisation, despite having recognition.
The extended classrooms lacked permission, prompting the DEO to report the issue to the regional joint director of school education, Kadapa, recommending the withdrawal of the school’s recognition.
