Vijayawada: The pending salaries of 536 contract workers employed under the Sri Satya Sai Water Supply Project Board, amounting to Rs 30 crore, have been released after Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan's intervention. These workers, who provide drinking water to rural areas in the combined Anantapur district, had boycotted duties and gone on strike, demanding the settlement of their overdue wages.

Upon learning that the salaries had been pending since February, Pawan Kalyan contacted officials from the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department and spoke with the Finance Department Secretary. His efforts ensured the issuance of a Budget Release Order (BRO) and a government order (GO) by the principal secretary (panchayat raj), facilitating the release of the salaries.

These 536 workers play a crucial role in supplying drinking water to nearly 20 lakh people across 1,341 villages in the district. Pawan Kalyan thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and praised the finance, panchayat raj, and RWS departments for their swift action in clearing the salary arrears.
