Vijayawada: Women and Child Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani has said ANMs would be deputed at 554 tribal schools to take care of the health of the students.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the minister said, “We would depute ANMs to tribal schools failing under nine ITDAs and they would conduct monthly health tests for students.”
She cited recent situations of some students dead due to ill-health and malnutrition. Efforts would be made to avoid such situations.
The minister announced plans to recruit 2,024 teachers through the Mega DSC in tribal schools and they would help improve the results of the students in future exams.
“We would recruit women teachers in tribal girls’ schools and attendants also would be women. We would set up complaint boxes in the schools to get feedback on teaching, food and security. The names of the complainants would be kept confidential.”
Sandhya Rani, who also handles the tribal welfare portfolio, promised to revive the Thalli-Bidda express to help women and the new born to reach home safely by vehicle after delivery. “We are working out plans for sale of the popular Araku coffee in other states and abroad in view of its popularity.”
There would be efforts to keep a check on ganja and drugs, she added.
