Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh BJP is targeting a one-crore membership in the state as part of a nation-wide drive starting September 1. To prepare for this, the AP BJP held a meeting on Wednesday, where party president D. Purandeswari urged activists to engage with every household.

The BJP chief emphasised the need to highlight the welfare schemes and development projects initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and encourage people to join the party. Purandeswari reminded members that the BJP, rooted in the ideology of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, continues to grow through the dedication of its activists.

She noted that the BJP, along with its allies, governs in 20 states across the country, with PM Modi leading the nation under the ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas’ mission, aiming to position India as the world’s third-largest economy. BJP leader Siddarth Nath Singh reiterated that the party's ideology has remained consistent since the formation of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1952. Responding to a query, he stated that anyone, including former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, could join BJP if they renounce past actions like religious conversions. Several BJP leaders, including Union Minister Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma and former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, attended the meeting.
