AP cricketers shine in IPL 2025 auctions

Visakhapatnam: Five players have been selected for the IPL 2025 season, representing various franchises. Two of these hail from Visakhapatnam, while one each comes from Kakinada, Srikakulam and Guntur.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, an all-rounder from Visakhapatnam, has made history by becoming the first cricketer from AP to be retained in the IPL. The Sunrisers Hyderabad secured him as their fifth capped player for Rs 6 crore, a significant rise from his initial purchase price of Rs 20 lakh.
Nitish made his first-class debut on January 27, 2020. He debuted in T20 and Test formats for India on October 6 and November 22 respectively.
Another local talent, Pyla Avinash, was bought by the Punjab Kings for Rs 30 lakh. The 24-year-old all-rounder expressed his excitement in a conversation with Deccan Chronicle. He was an orange-cap-holder in the Andhra Premier League (APL).
Avinash scored an impressive 74 runs off just 29 balls in one match and hit four sixes in a single over during another.
From Kakinada, fast bowler Satyanarayana Raju has been picked by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakh. This will mark Raju's debut in the IPL, adding fresh talent to the franchise's bowling line-up.
Tripurana Vijay, a batting all-rounder from Srikakulam, joined the Delhi Capitals for a base price of Rs 30 lakh. At age 23, Vijay is expected to contribute significantly to his new team.
