Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed a city court to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, suitable for obtaining a passport valid for five years.

A single-judge bench, headed by Justice V.R.K. Krupa Sagar, held a hearing on Tuesday regarding a plea filed by Jagan Mohan Reddy, challenging the order of a special court dealing with cases involving MPs and MLAs. The city court had previously ordered the issuance of an NOC, suitable for obtaining a passport valid for only one year, and required the submission of a personal surety worth Rs 20,000.

The High Court upheld the condition of submitting the personal surety without modification.

It is worth noting that former CM sought permission to visit the UK to meet his daughter. He had accordingly obtained permission from the CBI court to travel abroad within a specified period.

Subsequently, Jagan Mohan Reddy applied for a passport. However, due to his involvement in a defamation case earlier in the city court, the passport authorities requested an NOC for the issuance of the passport. Based on this, the city court issued an NOC for a passport valid for only one year.
