Vijayawada: The School Education Department has devised a plan to reduce the burden of textbooks for students starting from the next academic year. The plan includes consolidating all subjects into a single textbook, organized by semester.

In the first semester, all subjects for classes 1 and 2 will be combined into one textbook, along with an additional workbook. In the second semester, all subjects will again be presented in one textbook, accompanied by a workbook.
For classes 3-5, in the first semester, all language subjects will be combined into one textbook and workbook, while all other subjects will be grouped into a separate textbook and workbook.
For classes 9 and 10, the current Hindi textbook will be replaced with the older version prepared by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Additionally, a system will be implemented for deducting points from teachers who are absent without permission. Teachers will lose a maximum of 10 points, with one point deducted each month for unauthorized absences during transfers.
Teachers are required to update their details online before the end of the Sankranti holidays. So far, 94,000 teachers have updated their details.
