Vijayawada:Leader of opposition (LoP) in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana has sought intervention of union home minister Amit Shah for putting into public domain all facts related to the CBI probe into seizure of narcotic drugs at the Visakhapatnam Port.

In a letter addressed to the union minister on Tuesday, the LoP recalled that a large shipment carrying illegal drugs had been seized at the Vizag port during the intervening night of March 19-March 20, 2024.

He pointed out that the shipment had originated from Santos Port of Brazil in the name of supplying dry yeast to the Visakhapatnam-based Sandhya Aqua Feed company.

Satyanarayana went on to allege that owners of this company are closely associated with family members of AP BJP chief D. Purandeswari.

He pointed out that though the CBI detained the shipping container carrying narcotic drugs mixed with around 25,000 kg of inactive dry yeast and booked a case, the investigating agency has not given any further details.

The senior YSRC leader underlined that such silence gives rise to suspicions regarding the consignee and their links.
