Minister for housing and information & public relations, Kolusu Parthasarathy, affirmed that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is dedicated to the welfare of farmers. On the occasion of National Farmers’ Day, the minister extended his best wishes to the farming community of the state.
The minister noted that during the five-year tenure of the anti-farmer YSR Congress government, farmers faced significant hardships due to a lack of subsidies, unavailability of fertilizers, and inadequate access to micro-farming and machinery.
He highlighted that, immediately after the formation of the coalition government under CM Naidu’s leadership, guidelines for the implementation of micro-farming were issued. This initiative, he stated, ensured farmers across the state received agricultural supplies at subsidized rates, gained comprehensive access to fertilizers through cooperative societies, and, for the first time, had cash for paddy deposited directly into their accounts within 48 hours.
Parthasarathy elaborated on several innovative reforms being introduced, including soil testing and the issuance of soil test reports, investment subsidies, digital farming via e-crop and Krishi apps, pest and disease surveillance systems, the establishment of drone groups, and the distribution of tenant rights documents under the new Andhra Pradesh Tenancy Act of 2024. He emphasized that these programmes aim to enhance the welfare of farmers and reaffirmed the coalition government’s commitment to their well-being under CM Naidu’s leadership.
