Chandrababu Naidu visits Polavaram Project
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inspected the progress of the Polavaram project located in Eluru district on Monday and sought details from the officials. The officials informed the CM that more than Rs 1,200 crore would be required for the construction of the diaphragm wall and guide bund.
Speaking to the media, Naidu stated that the government aims to complete the project by October 2026. He also mentioned that he had directed the officials to finish the diaphragm wall by December 2025. He added that the project is the lifeline of the state. Upon completion, the project will provide irrigation to a new ayacut of 7.20 lakh acres, drinking water for 28 lakh people, and generate 960 megawatts of power. Additionally, 23 TMC of water for industrial use will become available through the project.
