Kakinada: Clashes erupted between Telugu Desam and Jana Sena cadres in Tatiparthi village under Gollaprolu mandal of Pithapuram constituency on Sunday.

Jan Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan had been elected as MLA from there with a huge majority. Tatiparti is famous for the Aparna Devi temple and the devotees believed that the goddess would fulfil the desires of the devotees.

On Sunday, the temple committee appointed by the YSRC government handed over the temple keys to local Jana Sena leaders in Tatiparthi. When they went to the temple, the TD cadres rushed there and questioned why the YSRC-led committee has given the keys of the temple to Jana Sena leaders, and not to the village sarpanch or the government officials.

Jana Sena leaders rejected the argument and said they would now take care of the Tatiparthi temple. A physical fight ensued. They also indulged in slogan-shouting. Meanwhile, some elders entered the scene and held discussions to restore peace.

In an incident two days back, Jana Sena cadres attacked Telugu Desam leader and former MLA SVSN Varma in Vannepudi village.

Jana Sena leader K Nagababu stated that the Tatiparti temple issue would be decided by the local Jana Sena leaders led by the Pithapuram constituency in-chrage Marreddy Srinivas. He said Jana Sena leaders should maintain patience and nobody would be spared if they indulged in violence.

Nagababu said Pawan Kalyan “wants to make Pithapuram constituency an ideal one and he is playing a key role in the NDA.” After formation of cabinets both at the Centre and in the state, Pawan Kalyan would visit Pithapuram, he said.
