Tirupati: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has asked Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to reduce VIP culture at Tirumala, so that all devotees can have a seamless darshan. He made the statement while participating in a review meeting with TTD officials in Tirumala on Saturday.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister inaugurated the devasthanams’ Vakulamata Centralised Kitchen, constructed at a cost of ₹13.4 crore atop the hill town.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu emphasised, "There should be no compromise when it comes to services extended to common devotees. Every individual (including VIPs) must respect the sentiments of devotees and act accordingly, so that all pilgrims return home with positive memories of their spiritual journey."
The Chief Minister underlined that the state government had already initiated a "cleansing operation" within the TTD. This will improve the quality of services, particularly in preparation and distribution of Srivari Prasadam.
“No compromises will be made in the quality of prasadam, starting from selection of raw materials to final distribution,” he maintained.
Expressing his delight over opening of the centralised kitchen, Naidu highlighted that it will enable preparation of Annaprasadam for 1.25 lakh people a day. The modern facility can cook meals for 18,000 devotees within 30 minutes. It would thus ensure timely distribution of prasadam to the large number of devotees visiting the temple.
"This kitchen allows us to serve Annaprasadam to lakhs of devotees efficiently, without compromising on quality," he remarked. The Chief Minister expressed happiness that the greenery on Tirumala Hills has increased to 72 per cent. With continued efforts, this could reach 90 per cent in the next five years, he said.
Naidu reiterated the importance of preserving the sanctity of Tirumala shrine. "The only sound that should resonate in Tirumala is Govinda Nama Smarana. The government is committed to restoring the past glory of this world-renowned pilgrimage site," he stated.
The Chief Minister urged everyone involved in serving devotees at Tirumala to uphold the sanctity and serenity of the shrine, ensuring that all pilgrims have a sacred experience during their visit. He directed officials to maintain the quality of laddu and Annaprasadam and meet the expectations of devotees.
TTD executive officer (EO) J. Syamala Rao, additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Choudhary, Tirupati district collector Dr. S. Venkateswar, and SP L. Subba Rayudu, among others, were present at the review meeting.
