Vijayawada: Child Monitoring System (CMS) deployed at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawda during the five-day Bhavani Deeksha Viramana reunited 10 children lost in the crowds with their parents.

This first-of-its-kind initiative introduced by the NTR district administration, led by district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha, involved geo-tagging around 12,000 children with QR-based wristbands.
About 60 teams of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) had been deployed at the railway station, bus station, entry and exit points of Vijayawada city, as well as at the Durga Temple queue lines. These teams collected details of children below five years, including their parents' names and contact details.
ICDS staff entered these details into the CMS, which generated a unique QR wristband for each child.
“Scanning the QR code on the child’s wristband, provided us details of his / her parents, along with their contact information. This enabled us to identify the children who had got lost, thereby reuniting them with their parents,” Lakshmisha explained.
