CPI seeks ₹5 lakh aid for housing

Kurnool: CPI leaders have called for an increase in financial assistance to ₹5 lakhs for constructing houses for the poor during a protest in the city on Sunday. City joint secretary Chandrasekhar argued that the current aid is inadequate for completing a house and stressed the necessity for the enhanced amount.

He also urged the government to issue pattas to residents who have built huts on government lands and to provide basic amenities in underprivileged colonies. AISF district president Somanna and several city activists participated in the protest, highlighting the plight of the poor and demanding swift action from the authorities.
KV to be set up in Dhone
Kurnool: A Kendriya Vidyalaya is set to commence operations on April 1 in Dhone, Nandyal, according to an order from the Central government. Dr D. Manjunath, deputy commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalayas, informed the collector of the decision and emphasised finalising the land allocation for the school.
The premises of the Government ITI College, previously identified, have been directed to be readied for use. The Union Human Resource Department has instructed officials to ensure all necessary preparations. A Central government team will soon inspect the facilities to expedite the establishment process.
Swachh Srisailam Cleanliness Drive on 8 January
Kurnool: A large-scale sanitation drive under the ‘Swachh Srisailam’ initiative is scheduled for 8 January. The programme will target key locations, including temple streets, the Gangadharamandapam to Nandigudi stretch, Alankareshwara Temple, and significant areas such as the Darshan Q Complex, Sri Lalithambika Commercial Complex, Devasthanam Hospital, and the tourist bus stand.
Executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao announced the division of the area into six zones, 11 sectors, and 66 locations, with special officers assigned to oversee sanitation efforts. The initiative aims to improve cleanliness and hygiene for residents and visitors, contributing to the upkeep of the temple town. This effort forms part of ongoing measures to maintain a clean and orderly environment in Srisailam.
