Vijayawada: CPI national secretary K. Narayana, in a statement on Wednesday, dismissed the Modi government's campaign for 'One Nation-One Election' as a political gimmick. He criticised the notion that the BJP central cabinet had discussed the 18,000-page report from the Ram Nath Kovind committee and approved the proposal without an all-party meeting. Narayana argued that the idea of 'One Election, One Nation, and One Leader' would be disastrous for the country.
He pointed out that if Jamili elections were truly significant, elections are already underway in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana is preparing for elections, and Maharashtra elections are forthcoming. Narayana suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for Jamili elections is a political diversion. He affirmed that the CPI stands firmly against the implementation of Jamili elections in India’s federal system.
