Cyclone Alert Issued in Manyam District

Visakhapatnam: District collector A. Shyam Prasad has issued a high alert across Parvathipuram Manyam district following cyclone warnings from the Meteorological Department. A control room has been set up at the District Collector's Office, reachable at 08963 293046, with additional control rooms in tehsildar and RDO offices.

Officials have been instructed to ensure traffic flow and prevent people from crossing water bodies. Revenue officials are identifying disaster-prone areas, and police and volunteers are monitoring flash flood risks. Special provisions are being made for vulnerable groups, with essentials like milk, biscuits, and bread being prepared. Departments are readying equipment for clearing roads and inspecting water infrastructure.

Health officials are preparing for emergencies like snake bites, and water supply measures are being put in place. Schools and Anganwadi centres will close on Monday, though ashram schools and gurukulas will remain open. Heavy rainfall and winds of up to 50 km/h are expected over the next five days.
