Visakhapatnam: In swift response to a report in Deccan Chronicle on how malaria has impacted tribal families in hilltop hamlets under Rompilly panchayat in Ananthagiri mandal of the ASR district, district officials have promptly conducted a medical health camp.
Initially, officials stated that the situation was under control. However, Deccan Chronicle, in constant touch with PVTG tribes, published the actual ground reality, leading to officials swiftly organising a medical camp at Buruga and Chinnakonila. The medical camp was efficiently conducted by Dr. Santhosh from Bhimavaram PHC.
The DC had published a report titled “Malaria affects tribal families struggling for food” on June 9.
Many tribes in Buruga and Chinnakonila have contracted malaria and are unable to go to work, resulting in struggles for food. They have been pleading with authorities to sanction rations and organise a medical camp in their villages.
Dr Santhosh meticulously inspected the tribal huts and conducted a 5% ACM indoor residual spray program. He also thoroughly inspected local ponds and stagnated water bodies and conducted anti-mosquito larval operations.
“I have conducted a medical camp and found a few cases and gave them three days of medication. I checked their weight, particularly children. I will visit Anganwadi centres and check what kind of food they are serving,” Dr. Santhosh said.
