Vijayawada: The festival season has already arrived and there will be a hike in the demand for movies during the Sankranti festival.

Movies of top actors would be released on all the three days of the Sankranti festival and it is a big time for the producers to cash in on the occasion.

They would try to make money by going for benefit shows and also hiking the ticket prices in the first few days of the films' release.

However, the CPI secretary Ramakrishna has written a letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu not to entertain appeals for benefit shows and ticket price hike during the coming Sankranti festival.

He said it would be better if the AP government could follow the Telangana in dealing with the film producers.

Anticipating that the government would give nod to the benefit shows and hike in ticket prices, several producers are spending crores and crores on making the films and later, looting the audience, the CPI leader said.

He said that the CPI was condemning giving permission to hike in ticket prices and special shows in the state.

Also, the CPI leader appreciated Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy for taking a stern decision to check the film producers.

It is to be seen how the AP government would respond to this appeal by the Left party.
