Tirupati: Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is conspiring to eliminate YSRC and politically destroy former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, Bhumana accused Naidu of exploiting the Tirumala temple and its revered 'Srivari Laddu' system, for his political advantage. “This is a calculated and provocative effort to stir up Hindu emotions. He maliciously tried to distract people’s attention from the failures of the alliance government in its first 100 days in power,” he said.
“This is a shameless attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Tirumala temple and discredit the YSRC," he said.
Naidu, he said, would be willing to employ any tactic to politically destroy his principal political rival, Jagan Reddy.
“The real adulteration is not in the ghee, but in Chandrababu Naidu’s mindset, said
Bhumana, who was leading the TTD trust at the time when impure ghee delivery allegedly took place.
He found fault with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) report, which stated that adulterated ghee with traces of animal fat was found to have been used in the laddu prasadam preparation.
Bhumana asked why the chief minister, and not the present TTD executive officer, was releasing the contents of the controversial report, if there were no political motives behind the allegations.
He recalled that TTD executive officer Syamala Rao had previously confirmed that “vegetable oil was found in the samples.” How could Rao now claim it was animal fat?
The former MLA said it was likely that the EO was pressured into altering his story. He said that during the previous TD term (2014-2019), the TTD did not use Karnataka Milk Federation’s Nandini ghee. Why so, he asked.
“It was the same suppliers who provided ghee to TTD during both the TD and YSRC tenures,” he pointed out.
He said the purchase of ghee involved not only experts but also TTD board members, including those who are now in the TD. “Kolusu Parthasarathi, currently a TD minister, along with Vemireddy Prasanthi Reddy (Kovur TD MLA) and Vaidyanathan Krishna Swamy, were members of the TTD board and a part of the ghee procurement committee during the term of the previous government,” he said.
Bhumana sought an inquiry into the allegations so as to bring out the truth.
The former chairman urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a high-level probe into the allegations surrounding the Tirumala laddu.
Challenging Naidu, Bhumana said, “I am ready for any inquiry, be it by the CBI or a retired Supreme Court judge. Let the truth about the Tirupati Laddu row come out. Those responsible for any wrongdoing related to the laddu would face divine justice.”
