Excise Director Rules Out Shortage of Liquor in AP

Vijayawada:Excise sirector Nishanth Kumar has ruled out any shortage of liquor and beer, stating that the existing stocks would last for nearly 20 days.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the excise director mentioned that there are 20 lakh cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 5.6 lakh cases of beer available for sale in the state, against a daily consumption of 90,000 cases of IMFL and 23,000 cases of beer.

Addressing reports of shortages, the director clarified that, due to recent floods, storage capacity has decreased in some retail outlets within the city.

Regarding sales figures, he noted that in September of last year, liquor worth ₹2,487 crores was sold, while so far this month, sales have reached ₹1,972 crores.
