Former MLA Adusumilli Jayaprakash passes away

Former MLA and prominent political analyst Adusumilli Jayaprakash, who had been unwell for some time, passed away on Friday afternoon at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad. He was suffering from a lung infection for some time. He served the city of Addusumilli between 1983 and 1985 as the first generation member of the Telugu Desam. Later he also served as the Vijayawada city TD president. His son Adusumilli Thirumalesh said that the body will reach his residence in Mughalrajapuram, Vijayawada around 10:00 p.m., and the last rites will be held in Vijayawada on Saturday afternoon.


Jayaprakash, who was attracted towards politics in his student days, worked as a student leader in the Congress. Later joined Telugu Desam on the call of NTR and won as a legislator in 1983.

Recognised as a disciple of the late Kakani Venkata Ratnam, he played a vital role in the Samaikyandhra t movement. Adusumilli Jayaprakash, stayed away from active politics after the bifurcation of the united AP partition of the state, had written articles on contemporary politics for various dailies and also played the role of political commentator on current politics in TV channels.

Former Vice President Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu talked to Jayaprakash's son Thirumalesh on the phone and expressed his condolences. Former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskara Rao paid tribute at Hyderabad AIG Hospital. Former Rajya Sabha member and Padma Bhushan Acharya Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad said that we have lost a leader with values. Former Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao in his condolence message said that he was a pioneer in serving the people of Vijayawada beyond politics. Former legislators of Vijayawada East Yalamanchili Ravi said that Adusumilli had played an active role in the direct politics of Vijayawada.
