Visakhapatnam: State women and child welfare and tribal welfare minister Gummidi Sandhyarani launched free DSC coaching for tribal students in Parvathipuram Manyam district on Monday. The coaching programme, initiated under the Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA), was inaugurated at the Tribal Social Building and will run for two months. Out of 230 applications received, 100 students were selected. The coaching will be from 9 am to 5 pm daily.
The minister said the programme was the first of its kind in the state. A mega DSC notification has opened up 16,500 teaching positions, with 2,000 posts specifically allocated for tribal candidates. The coaching programme also includes free study materials and free lunch facilities.
District collector A. Shyam Prasad announced plans to expand coaching facilities, including potential centres in Seethampet and Gummalakshmipuram. MLAs T. Jagadeeswari, Nimmaka Jayakrishna, and Bonela Vijaya Chandra and ITDA project officer Ashutosh Srivastava also attended the inaugural event.
