Irrigation Expert Inspects Crest Gates at Prakasam Barrage

Vijayawada: Veteran irrigation expert Kannaiah Naidu has inspected the crest gates of the Prakasam barrage here on Tuesday – a day after four sand boats got stuck at the gates of the barrage

The expert noticed minor damage to one gate but ruled out any damage to the barrage. The gates could be operated, except for the one having minor damage to its counterweight, he said.

This apart, the water resources department is making efforts to get experts to remove the sand boats from the Krishna river and from the barrage once the level of floodwaters in the river comes down.
