Vijayawada: Former chief minister and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited former MP Nandigam Suresh in Guntur jail on Wednesday, offering his support and assuring that the party would stand by him.

Speaking to the media later, Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned Suresh's arrest as illegal and described it as an unprecedented misuse of power. He criticised the state government for arresting key party leaders amid severe rainfall and flooding. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of mismanaging the flood crisis, which he claimed resulted in nearly 60 deaths.

He alleged that the state government was attempting to divert public attention by arresting party leaders, including Suresh and the husband of Vijayawada's deputy mayor, on the night of September 4. The former chief minister stated that neither Suresh nor the deputy mayor's husband were involved in the incidents related to the Telugu Desam office and claimed that an inquiry and CCTV footage would exonerate them. He accused the TD-led coalition government of focusing more on destruction and lawlessness than effective governance. He also criticised the state government for failing to implement preventive measures despite receiving early flood warnings and called for legal action against Naidu.

Referring to the TD's campaign promise of the Super Six schemes, Jagan questioned their status after three months of rule and alleged a lack of transparency and social audits in government schemes.
